2018 Capital Campaign Commitment Card

The Church Has Left the Building Registration

April 22, 2018

This Sunday is Commitment Sunday!  That means all APC members and friends are strongly encouraged to bring your capital campaign pledge cards this Sunday, April 22.  Every pledge will be an important part of getting us to our goal of moving toward becoming A House of Prayer for All People.  We have received a very generous matching gift offer for first-time APC capital campaign contributors up to the amount of $75,000, so your pledge could be worth twice as much as face value! If you can’t be present on April 22, please mail your pledge card in.  Thank you very much for your prayerful consideration of pledging as much as you are able to be part of us reaching our $1.4 million goal.  Those who aren't sure where your pledge card might be will find one in the friendship pads in worship.  We look forward to the prospect of announcing where we are in comparison to our goal on Sunday, May 6.

Also, please make plans to be present for the special luncheon following the 10:00 service.  It will be a grand celebration taking place in the Parish Hall and Parlor!  You won't find a better meal or occasion on a Sunday.

Before the big day on Sunday, come see with clarity how talented our APC youth are!  On Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall, the youth will entertain and delight with their program that has 'Cats' as a theme.  This is a fund-raiser to strengthen our youth ministry, so adults are asked to contribute $15, children are $8, with a maximum of $50 for a family.  It will be a fun evening!

Adult Forum on Sunday, April 22 at 8:45 will be an Earth Day focus, led by Cindy Nuss in the Parlor.  Did you know APC has qualified as an Earth Care congregation?  Stephen Kim leads the Bible Class, "Why I am a Christian," in Room 108 at 8:45.

Looking ahead:

On Sunday, April 29, our children's choirs will present the biblical story of Zacchaeus through their musical at the 10:00 service.

That afternoon are a couple of other wonderful possibilities: Our Unity Task Team encourages APC folks to attend a workshop at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church led by Debby Irving, author of  WAKING UP WHITE: Finding OURSELVES in the Story of Race that takes place on Sunday, April 29 from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm. The workshop will discuss issues of race, power, privilege and community.  Contact Alice Price or Kirby if you are interested in car-pooling.

Later that same day, April 29, is the Music At Abington Flute and Organ program featuring Philadelphia musicians Erik and Anna Meyer at 4 p.m.

We will have a special "The Church Has Left the Building" Pentecost version on Sunday May 20.  The day starts with 8:00 am worship in the sanctuary.  There will be no 10:00 service that day.  Rather all are invited to leave from worship to engage in service through meal preparation, gardening, repair/construction, visitation/worship and creative endeavors. Sign ups for the various service opportunities are on the bulletin board in the main hall at the church.  That evening at 5 p.m., we will gather back at church for a Light Supper, and Slide Show of the projects of the day.

There is a lot going on where we can live out joy and gratitude in response to God's good gifts,

Kirby Lawrence Hill
