APC Members and Friends –

I normally preach from scripture passages suggested by the Revised Common Lectionary.  The lectionary is a good tool to get a fairly comprehensive overview of the witness of scripture over a three year cycle.  It does a good job in following the liturgical calendar.  There are however gaps in what it covers.  It also is hard to put together a series of sermons on a particular area of relevance when following the constraints of the lectionary texts.  So over the next five weeks I will be preaching from passages in Jeremiah, along with a New Testament passage each week.  I am calling this sermon series, “Commonwellth.”  I know I didn’t spell that right.  The series will focus on what is needed for the collective ‘we’ to be doing ‘well’ together.  The passages for this Sunday will be: Jeremiah 22:13-19 and Luke 4:16-30 and the sermon title will be “Commonwellth: Living in Just and Right Relationships.”

A note about our church staff: with regret, we announce that Ra-Shawn Glenn’s time as our APC financial secretary has come to a close.  We wish Ra-Shawn well.  The Personnel Council is acting quickly to address the needs for the position in this time of transition.  If you are aware of an individual who might want to apply for this position, cover letters and resumes can be sent to zene.colt@gmail.com

Please be in prayer for our Vacation Bible School that starts next Monday.  There is going to be a lot of positive energy in this building throughout the week.  If you want a fun evening, come to the Music at Abington showing of some silent Charlie Chaplin movies with organ accompaniment this Tuesday at 7:30.

With prayers,

Kirby Lawrence Hill
