APC youth and 5 adult advisors spent a week, in late June and early July, 2005,  with about 200 other youth and their advisors at the Pittsburgh Project repairing houses and learning about God’s love through service. Here is what our youth said about the experience:

We Built a
Church
Without a steeple
We learned that poverty
Of money may still allow an attitude that’s sunny

The camp was cool
Don’t be a fool
Stay in School
Go God

When I was in Pittsburgh I learned many things in a small amount of time. But the main thing I learned was the smallest thing could mean the world to someone else

The week was Fun
We worked in the sun
But not when it was pouring

We sang and we danced
Sometimes even pranced
But not a second was boring

Turkey sandwiches every day
This fueled Frisbee, which we played
But we had to wake up early in the morning

Joyful that she (the home owner) has become happy and we have made her life a more peaceful place

Jesus Rocks!
(I’m on him like a bun on a bologna sandwich)

Exciting

This trip was hard work, fun, messy, and life changing

My throat hasn’t hurt this bad since tour days with the Quiet Riot

The Workcamp 2005 was awesome because I served God in an unfamiliar setting that was both exhausting and exhilarating

HOPE!!

Hard work
Many laughs
Bring the Joy
From Our hearts

Inspirational - This week really made me connect with God

Eye-opening – You really don’t realize how much you have until you experience something like this. It really gives you a different perspective

This week was a great experience. It let me meet an amazing woman; 85 years old, widow, low income and still with constant love and faith. This trip allows bonds that are so strong and could only be cultivated by an experience like this

The Pittsburgh Project,
Working hard and having fun
I’m the “4 Square” king

Things happen because God wants them to happen

Met up with the Lord, opened my heart,
I had a little doubt when we began to start.
My leader, Juana, taught me a whole lot,
We ate lunch every day in our shady spot.
It wasn’t Lubec, that’s for sure,
But it felt great to help the poor.
I hope we do a mission every year,
For God’s love is one I love to hear.

Words cannot describe how amazing this week has been. Great people, great love, and the knowledge that God is love!

Self-Discovery

Never did I expect to fall in love with my crew, but they freely blessed me through and through. We laughed, we loved, and we shared Christ with our home owner, Patti. On Wednesday, She asked Christ into her heart, and I pray that this is just the start of a life of love and happiness

Revelations

Jesus loves everyone and comes in all shapes and sizes

Opened – changed

A great journey through the world of sad people who are less fortunate

I really love God!
He is super AMAZING!
Pitt is über cool!

God is everywhere – Open your eyes

Motivating

          TONS
          OF
          FUN
A Hoot n’ Holler

Exhausting, eye opening

Closer

Time spent with a wonderful group of young people helping make a resident’s life better. A chance to reflect and refresh my faith
