Scott Nowack:
What Must I Do to be Saved? Aug
16, 2009.
It
is not enough to simply be a good person, or to do things for the
poor, or attend worship regularly, or to know a lot about the Bible,
or to give a lot of money to God, or to work for the church. All
these things, when done together, will equip us to share with the
world the true freedom we found in the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Scott Nowack:
A Family Reunion of Sorts July
26, 2009.
Esau, in seeking a reconciliation
with Jacob, doesn’t come with weapons of war. He comes with open arms and a
loving heart. He has forgiven Jacob and seeks to be reconciled with him. Esau
acts in good faith while Jacob deceives his brother. Jacob was glad that Esau
was now out of his way and out of his life. In essence, Jacob’s encounter with
Esau ends short of a full reconciliation.

Scott Nowack:
Stairway to Heaven July
12, 2009.
Our lives are filled with promises,
but they are conditional promises; contractual agreements between two parties
that can be made null and void. God’s promises to us are unconditional, as were
those in Jacob's dream at Bethel. God doesn’t change his mind. God has never
left us or turned away from us no matter where we’ve been or what we’ve done.

Get Powered Up May
31, 2009.
Where do you see the power of the
Holy Spirit at work in your own life? In the life of your family? In the
life of your co-workers and classmates? In the life of this congregation?
It’s the time to move forward seeking new ways of being the church of
Jesus Christ. |

Open Minds
May 24, 2009 (Ascension Sunday)
The challenge for modern
disciples is to hear the words of Christ in the silence, in the loneliness, the
sorrow and grief, in the laughter and smiles, that are part of our
lives... to allow Christ to open our minds to the
hope that comes from knowing that the future is
in God’s hands, that history will ultimately be redeemed, and
God’s purpose will be done and fulfilled in time.

Brent Eelman:
In Truth and Action
May 3, 2009. The
good news of the Gospel is this: That Jesus loved us and laid down his
life for us. The challenge of the gospel is this: we ought to lay down
our lives for one another. |

Fear, Foes, and Armor
Apr 26, 2009. We have challenges before
us... and they appear like the giant Goliath, taunting us to come forward
in battle. The temptation is to duck the foes.. let future generations
deal with it... put in our time, play it safe and survive.... Or we can
put on the armor of faith... and meet the challenges. |
|
Scott Nowack:
Now What Do We Do? Apr 19, 2009.
Through the Holy Spirit, we
can face our fears, our imperfections, our problems and our pain with a faith
that comes from knowing Christ. With this faith, we are able as the church to
share with the world the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And with this faith, we shall live in earnest for that day
when our Risen Lord shall come again.

The Son Also Rises
Apr 12, 2009 (Easter morning)
Some of us are here with an unshakeable belief, others with doubts and
concerns; some with questions that have gone unanswered… Perhaps some
with no belief at all….. yet here because of a hunger for hope. We hear
the words: “you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth” Then we hear the
promise… He has gone ahead and will meet you….

Freedom for All Apr

An allegory of the price paid by Jesus Christ to set us
free. |

What
Are You Doing?
Apr 5, 2009.
"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be
like a wise man who built his house on rock.” That
house endures the storms of life….and triumphs… Just as Christ endured
the cross…. And triumphed.

George Washington's Prayer for the Nation
"And now, Almighty Father, if it is Thy holy will
that we shall obtain a place and name among the nations of the earth,
grant that we may be enabled to show our gratitude for Thy goodness
by our endeavors to fear and obey Thee.
Bless us with thy wisdom in our counsels, success in battle,
and let our victories be tempered with humanity.
Endow, also, our enemies with enlightened minds,
that they become sensible of their injustice,
and willing to restore our liberty and peace.
Grant the petition of Thy servant,
for the sake of whom Thou hast called Thy beloved Son;
nevertheless, not my will, but Thine be done."
Hate can stifle evil, but God's Love has
the power to transform evil.
