Kindergarten through 6th grade Church School
Sunday Morning Schedule
(Sept. – June)
Sunday Morning Schedule
(June – August)
|
For children in
Kindergarten through 6th grade, there is Sunday morning
church school. Our church school is based on the Workshop Rotation
Model. The curriculum we use is The We Believe Rotation
Model curriculum from the PC(USA). Click
here
for pictures and more information.
The children begin
their Sunday morning attending worship with their parents at the
9:00am service. After the children’s message, the children are
dismissed to their church school workshops. The children are then
led, by adults who serve as “Shepherds”, to one of a range of
workshops where they learn more about the Bible.
The
workshops include: Rainbow Room (art); Music of the Spirit
(music); Praise Him! Playhouse (drama); Miracle Matinee (video);
Godly Games (games), and Bible Bytes (computers). In each of
these workshops the bible story is presented by a workshop
teacher. The children learn more about the specific story through
the activity appropriate to that workshop. The material presented
to the children is presented in 7 week units throughout the school
year (each grade remains in worship each week).
The Workshop Rotation
Model enables children to learn in a variety of ways. It also
means that a child who cannot be present every week does not miss
out on the story.
In the summer months,
there is one pre-K class on Sunday morning held at 10am in the
Children’s Choir Room. There is one church school class for all
children ages 5-7 following the children’s message at the 10am
service. Children ages 8 and up remain in worship with their
parents. Special children’s bulletins are provided so children may
more fully participate in the worship service. |

Club@APC (Grades 3-6) |
On Wednesday
afternoons, in conjunction with the children’s choir rehearsals,
the Children’s Ministry Committee provides the children in grades
3-6 meet at 4:00 p.m. with an after-school ministry called Club@APC.
Children play games and participate in active Bible learning. It
is designed to be a “mini-youth fellowship” similar to the youth
fellowships of Abington Youth Ministry. |
