Stained Glass Windows

Christian symbols give deeper meaning to worship. The stained glass windows in the sanctuary portray in part the progressive revelation of God in the Old and New Testaments.

These paraments adorning the lectern and pulpit during the worship services were dedicated on September 14, 2003.  They were given by Lucille Eddy, in loving memory of George Eddy Jr. They are truly a labor of love that is dedicated to the glory of God.  They were hand stitched by volunteers from our congregation: Eleanor Barwis, Beverly Foster, Mildred Kistenmacher, Helen Lutz, Jean McDevitt, Anne Rotenbury, and Lois Wilson.  The colors correspond with the appropriate seasons of the church year. White is used during Christmastide, Easter, and occasions that witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Red is used during Pentecost and for ordination and installation of clergy.  Purple is used during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Green (shown above on the lectern and pulpit) is used during "ordinary time."  Thanks be to God for the gift of these paraments and for the loving hands that stitched them. May they be used to God's glory!

These paraments, which will lie on the communion table, were given in loving memory of Susan Barwis Lamberson by her parents, Eleanor and Bill Barwis.  Susan was a child of Abington Presbyterian Church, growing up during the ministry of John McGill and Bill Jackson.  The paraments were embroidered by Eleanor Barwis, Jean McDevitt, Mildred Kistenmacher, Merrel Shaffer, and Shirley Tomkinson. They represent a special gift of love and talent to the congregation in its worship of God.
