The sermon series, “It’s About Time,” continues this Sunday.  We will be focusing on “Tomorrow.”  Those who come to the Wednesday Bible study indicate that they are enriched by reading through the scripture lessons ahead of time.  Readings for this Sunday will be Matthew 6:25-34 and Philippians 3:10-14.  While the choirs are on break, we will have ‘The Presbytones’ enriching our 10 a.m. worship service.  We continue with our outdoor 8 a.m. worship services (weather permitting) through Labor Day weekend.

A bit of sad news: long-term member Jane Thomson died early Tuesday morning of this week.  Her memorial service will be at the Rydal Park Auditorium, 1515 The Fairway, Jenkintown, this Saturday, August 11 at 1:30.  The family has designated that memorial gifts should be directed to APC.  Please be in prayer for the extended family and for all who feel this loss.

No one was late with their backpacks for theVillage project where APC members were providing 50 backpacks filled with school supplies for specific children and youth in need.  All 50 plus 3 more were in on time last Sunday!  Way to go, and thank you for showing God’s love in this way!

Beach Day for our Youth is coming up on Saturday, August 25.  Email justinfeil4@gmail.com for information or to RSVP for the day trip.

The Session has called a Congregational Meeting for Sunday, August 26, following the 10 a.m. worship service.  The purpose of the meeting is to change Diane Fitch’s pastoral status from full-time to half-time at her request.  The Session has approved a plan for a shift in her duties, giving up most of her youth ministry duties in order to take on oversight and operation of our pastoral care and visitation ministry.  Justin Feil and Katelyn Ciccozzi will be on staff for the coming year under Diane’s oversight, guiding our youth ministry program.  Our parish associate, Stan Wherry, will be stepping back from his duties in pastoral care and visitation, with our deep thanks for his ministry in this area.  Following the meeting, there will be a reception honoring Stan Wherry’s service to APC.  During the meeting, the congregation will also have opportunity to elect an associate pastor nominating committee, which will begin its work to search for the person who will serve as APC’s next full-time associate pastor working with our youth ministry.  We are thankful for the generous gifts of the congregation that make this staffing model possible!

Put it on your calendar: Homecoming Sunday will be September 9.  Our former pastor, Brent Eelman, will be here to offer the sermon that day and there will be plenty of festivities following 10 a.m. worship that day.

We don’t know what tomorrow holds, but we do know the One who holds tomorrow.

Rev. Kirby Lawrence Hill
